Change in the (h)Air

Five years ago I worked at a hair salon as a receptionist. I would see girls walk in with brown hair and walk out with blonde and every day the itch to dye my own hair grew. I was hesitant though, until a stylist (who was not my regular go-to stylist) convinced me to let him dye my hair. He started coloring my hair at 6 PM and did not finish until 1 AM. It was one of the worst experiences of my life, he kept lifting the color out of my hair with bleach, and not only did it burn my scalp but my hair was Little Mermaid orange. I looked like something from the Capitol in the Hunger Games. And to top it off my dad was sitting and watching the whole time with horror on his face, so embarrassing. To make matters worse, my hair was so damaged that eventually I had to cut it all off up to my chin. It took me five years to grow my hair back and I vowed to never color my hair again.

Well here I am five years later and all I've been wanting lately is a little change I can enjoy, and dying my hair seemed like the easiest way to get that. My AMAZING friend and stylist Shelley is a miracle worker and I knew if I could trust anyone to color my hair it would be her! Look at the amazingness she created below! Very subtle, exactly what I needed for my career, but still giving me a little change too!! The most exciting part is, Shelley used a toner on my ends, so it will lighten a little over time, which is so much fun!!

Part of the fun of getting your hair done is going out afterward! Tonight I went to Toro in the South End for the first time. I met up with two of my favorite Simmons girls Brit and Pati, and we had a blast!! Love you girls xoxo
