A lot has happened in the past three years, but not much has changed, other than the world of technology. I have seen sites like Tumblr pop up, and the age of video channels on Youtube come to fruition, and as I have envied those who have succeeded to use those channels as a creative outlet, I seemed to overlook my blogspot! The most unsuccesful blog channel that I hastily joined three years ago!! Just kidding blogspot, please don't deactivate my account. Anyway, over time some of my friends have mentioned they miss my blog posts (namely my sister Amna), so for you I am back here, writing up a storm on this beautiful Sunday afternoon.
In honor of vacation season and the (early) Summer intermittently making an appearance, I decided to write about a lipstick shade I have been obsessed with over the past three years, a summer hot pink. From a young age it has been a global obsession with the barbie doll hot pink; an artistic expression of color, a bold statement, a sexy allure, an international icon (can't think of any other two word dramatic expressions). You wear it and its an instant confidence booster, you think to yourself, "who am i? how did i become so cool? why am i not on the cover of Nylon Magazine?" (I would have said Cosmo, but lets be real, we're not getting on the cover of Cosmo anytime soon).
So for you girls looking for the perfect hot pink, I have found two for you. The first lipstick I found was in 2010 pre-St Thomas trip with my girls Alma and Nora, and is called "Corrupt" by Illamasque, this is a highly pigmented matte lipstick that is hot pink with a blue undertone. This color is great for making a statement if you build it up, or can be worn on a more day to day basis with one coat and a simple gloss. This color looks AMAZING on my friend Nora, to the point where I was jealous for a good year (and maybe still am). Look below to see how great it looks on her!
My second hot pink lipstick is from the mastermind of color herself, Miss Nicki Minaj! She recently collaborated with MAC under their Viva La Glam line to create the color Viva Glam Nicki, a hot pink with a coral undertone, that looks GREAT on dark skin, the go-to lipstick post tanning sesh. The best thing about this lipstick is every cent of VLG sales goes to help men, women and children fighting AIDS/HIV, a win-win! Okay, this post has become SO long. I'm heading back to FL next week and have picked out a couple more vacation shades, which I will hopefully blog about sometime this coming week!!! I missed you guys (all six of you)!!!! Talk to you soon.
