Sandy, You Betch!

What the hell!?!?! I could care less that a hurricane is coming, but what good is a hurricane if I can't get the day off from work?? While everyone is celebrating (via FB wall posts) their day off tomorrow, I sit in sorrow scrolling through my news feed, making Sandy Brownies at my apartment thinking about my scary commute to work tomorrow morning. My manager actually emailed my team (he works in the NY office) saying he was considering getting a hotel in the city so he would have no issues commuting tomorrow. Does the Silver Line run in a state of emergency? Just checked the MBTA and yes, it does, great. Thanks for ruining my Monday morning yet again Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.

Anyway, one thing I've wanted to talk about for a while is why I have this blog. My blog is simply for inspiration. Not only can I show you all what's on my radar, but since I have reintroduced my blog so many lovely people have shared some awesome style ideas with me as well, which I love! The last couple of outfits I have worn have been taken from inspiration or recommendations from my nearest and dearest, and I wanted to share them with you, so hopefully you can share them with someone in the future too.

Most recently my friend Nancy introduced me to Huda Beauty, which inspired me to rock out the side swept style that was seemingly revisited by those daring enough to shave one side of their head. Braids are a safe way to get this awesome look and is a lifesaver when your hair isn't washed (don't judge me).

The main focus of the above picture though is my jacket! Don't I look like Indiana Jones? Or one of those zookeepers from the Nature Channel? My friend Laila is an absolute fashionista and I had recently seen a picture of her wearing something similar. I am loving the leather sleeve style and I found my version at Nordstrom, but all you have to do when you see something you like is search a description of the item in google and then click on the shopping link to your left! Voila, you will find what you need, in whatever price range you are shopping!

On this night I was going out with my girl Wafaa for a much needed date night. She had recently told me about this site Shoe Mint, which is a monthly membership shoe site that was created by Rachel Bilson and Steve Madden. I purchased these suede mustard pointy toe heels that are so sexy and glamorous. I could not wait for the opportunity to wear them, especially since mustard is such an awesome autumn color. Well guys, these shoes KILLED. I'm not sure if it's because they are very high or if it was the pointy toe, all I know is walking on concrete gave me the feeling of the hell fire burn. These are going to have to be a pair of shoes that I admire on my shoe rack and not on my feet.

As I said before, I hope my posts serve as some sort of inspiration to you and your closet, and if it doesn't, I hope you at least get a few laughs from my horrible writing. With that being sad, I'm going to go eat a tray of brownies and scream to the sky: "Sandy, you did this to me!!!".
